sensory mapping
Sensory mapping is the process by which the brain organizes and interprets information from the body's senses—such as touch, temperature, and pressure—by creating a "map" of the body in the brain’s surface. This map shows which areas of the brain correspond to specific parts of the body, allowing us to perceive sensations accurately. For example, highly sensitive areas like fingertips have larger representations on the sensory map. This organization helps the brain efficiently process sensory input, enabling us to feel, respond, and interact with our environment effectively.
