Senning Procedure

The Senning procedure is a type of heart surgery used to treat a condition called transposition of the great arteries, where two major blood vessels are switched. In this operation, surgeons create new pathways inside the heart to redirect oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the body and oxygen-poor blood from the body to the lungs. They do this by using the patient's own heart tissue to build these routes, helping blood flow correctly despite the abnormal connection of arteries. This procedure improves oxygen delivery to tissues and helps restore normal circulation.
