Selvedge refers to the finished edge of denim fabric that prevents fraying. It is created during the weaving process on traditional shuttle looms, resulting in a tightly woven, durable border often with a distinct color or selvage stripe. This edge indicates higher-quality denim and classic craftsmanship, as it is less prone to unraveling and often signifies authenticity. When jeans are made with selvedge denim, the selvage edge is usually visible inside the waistband or along the outseam, reflecting attention to detail and durability.
