SELENE

SELENE (SELenological and ENgineering Explorer), also known as Kaguya, was a Japanese lunar orbiter launched in 2007. Its mission was to study the Moon's surface, gravity, and environment to better understand its origin and evolution. By capturing high-resolution images and collecting data on lunar mineral composition, SELENE helped scientists learn about the Moon’s geology, volcanic activity, and internal structure. It operated around the Moon for several years, providing valuable insights that supported future lunar exploration and scientific research.
