Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a non-invasive laser treatment used to reduce eye pressure in glaucoma. It targets specific cells in the eye's drainage system called the trabecular meshwork, using a low-energy laser that selectively stimulates natural fluid outflow. This helps lower intraocular pressure, reducing the risk of optic nerve damage. SLT is usually performed in an outpatient setting, is generally well-tolerated with minimal side effects, and often decreases or eliminates the need for eye drops. It provides a safe, effective, and repeatable option for managing glaucoma and preventing vision loss.
