Selective Internal Radiation Therapy

Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT), also known as radioembolization, is a minimally invasive treatment for liver cancer. It involves injecting tiny, radioactive beads into the liver's blood vessels that feed the cancer. These beads deliver targeted radiation directly to the tumor while sparing healthy tissue. The goal is to shrink or destroy the cancer while minimizing side effects. SIRT is often used when surgery isn't an option and provides a localized approach to manage tumors effectively, leveraging the liver's blood supply to deliver treatment precisely where it's needed.
