Seldinger technique

The Seldinger technique is a medical method used to insert tubes or catheters into blood vessels or internal organs safely and accurately. It involves first placing a thin, flexible guide wire into the vessel or organ through a small needle. The needle is then removed, leaving the guide wire in place. A catheter or larger tube is threaded over the guide wire into the correct position. This approach minimizes trauma, reduces complications, and allows precise placement of instruments for diagnosis or treatment. It’s commonly used in procedures like angiography or central line placement.
