Seismic Studies

Seismic studies involve analyzing how seismic waves, generated by earthquakes or artificial sources, travel through the Earth. By examining the speed, direction, and changes in these waves, scientists can learn about the Earth's internal structure, such as layers, densities, and composition. This information helps identify features like faults, magma chambers, and mineral deposits, and improves earthquake understanding and predicting. Essentially, seismic studies are a way of "taking an MRI" of the Earth's interior using wave behavior to reveal what is hidden beneath the surface.
