Seed Development

Seed development is the process by which a fertilized egg in a plant grows into a mature seed. After pollination, the fertilized egg begins to divide and form the embryo—the tiny plant that will grow inside. Surrounding this embryo, tissues develop to store nutrients and protect the seed. Over time, the seed matures, reaching a size and composition suitable for dispersal. This process ensures the plant's offspring can survive in new locations, continuing the plant species' growth and reproduction.
