seed anatomy
A seed is a tiny plant in its earliest stage of life, containing three main parts: the embryo, which is the young plant that will grow; the endosperm or cotyledons, which provide stored food to help the embryo grow; and the seed coat, a protective outer layer that shields the seed from damage and drying out. When conditions are right—like proper moisture, temperature, and light—the seed can sprout, allowing the new plant to grow. Seed anatomy is designed to protect and nourish the developing plant until it can stand on its own.
