A security assertion is a statement or claim about a user's identity and access rights, often used in online security systems. It confirms that a user has been verified by an authentication process and details what they are allowed to do. For example, when you log into an app, the system might create a security assertion that says, "This user is authorized to access their account." These assertions help maintain both security and convenience by allowing systems to trust the user's identity without needing to recheck it constantly.
