Secret Annex
The Secret Annex was a concealed space in Otto Frank’s office building in Amsterdam, where Anne Frank and her family hid during World War II to escape Nazi persecution of Jews. Hidden behind a movable bookcase, it provided a safe refuge for over two years, shielding them from discovery. The annex was equipped with basic living necessities, as the family maintained a clandestine existence until their arrest in 1944. Today, it serves as a poignant museum, illustrating the hardships of hiding and the resilience of those who lived through it.
