Secondary progressive MS

Secondary progressive multiple sclerosis (SPMS) is a stage of MS where the disease steadily worsens over time after an initial relapsing-remitting phase. In SPMS, nerve damage and disability gradually increase, with fewer clear attacks or relapses. While some symptoms may stabilize temporarily, overall function continues to decline, affecting movement, coordination, or other nervous system functions. It reflects a more persistent and progressive progression of MS, requiring ongoing management to improve quality of life and slow further disability.
