Second Continental Congress

The Second Continental Congress, held from 1775 to 1781, was a pivotal gathering of colonial leaders during the American Revolution. It served as the national government, coordinating the colonies' efforts against British rule. They managed wartime supplies, created the Continental Army, and eventually drafted the Declaration of Independence. The Congress acted as a unifying authority, making important decisions for what would become the United States, until the newer U.S. Constitution replaced it in 1789. This Congress played a crucial role in transitioning from colonies fighting for rights to establishing an independent nation.
