SEC Columns
SEC columns, or size-exclusion chromatography columns, are tools used in laboratories to separate molecules based on their size. Inside the column, tiny beads with tiny pores act like filters. Larger molecules can't enter the pores and thus flow through quickly, while smaller molecules enter the pores and take longer to pass through. This way, molecules are separated by size as they travel through the column. SEC is commonly used in biochemistry to analyze proteins and other large molecules, helping scientists understand their shape, size, and purity efficiently.
