SEAL Qualification Training (SQT)
SEAL Qualification Training (SQT) is a rigorous program that U.S. Navy SEAL candidates undergo after completing basic training and BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training). SQT lasts about six months and focuses on advanced tactical skills, including combat diving, land warfare, and small unit tactics. Candidates also train in leadership, physical fitness, and mental resilience. Successful completion of SQT earns candidates the Navy SEAL Trident, signifying their qualification to serve in SEAL teams, where they carry out special operations and missions around the world. It’s a critical step in becoming a fully operational SEAL.
