Seabed Treaty
The Seabed Treaty, signed in 1971, is an international agreement aiming to prevent the weaponization of the deep oceans and outer space. It prohibits countries from placing nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction on the seabed beyond a certain depth and from establishing military bases or testing related weapons there. The treaty promotes peaceful use of the seabed's resources and helps prevent an arms race beneath the waves, encouraging international cooperation to keep the deep ocean environment secure and stable.
