sea star
A sea star, commonly known as a starfish, is a marine invertebrate characterized by its round body and multiple arms extending from a central disc. They have a tough, often spiny skin and move slowly across the ocean floor using hundreds of tiny, tube-like feet located on the underside of their arms, operated by a water vascular system. Sea stars are predators, mainly feeding on bivalve mollusks like clams and mussels by prying open their shells. They play an important role in their ecosystem, helping control prey populations and maintain healthy ocean environments.
