Sea of Marmara
The Sea of Marmara is a small, inland sea located between the European and Asian parts of Turkey. It connects the Aegean Sea to the Black Sea via the Dardanelles and Bosporus straits, respectively. The sea is roughly 280 kilometers long and 80 kilometers wide, serving as a crucial waterway for transportation and trade. It is also surrounded by significant historical and cultural sites, including Istanbul. The seabed is notable for tectonic activity, as the North Anatolian Fault runs through it, making it an area of geological interest and seismic risk.
