Scottish grey seal

The Scottish grey seal (Halichoerus grypus) is a large marine mammal native to the coasts of Scotland and surrounding waters. Recognizable by its long, narrow head, prominent nose, and sturdy body, it is one of Europe's most common seal species. Grey seals are highly adaptable, feeding mainly on fish and invertebrates, and they spend much of their time resting on rocky shores or beaches. They are social animals, often gathering in colonies, especially during breeding season. Conservation efforts have helped maintain healthy populations, though they remain vulnerable to pollution, fishing nets, and habitat disturbance.
