Scotopic Response

Scotopic response refers to how our eyes detect and respond to low-light, or dim, conditions. It involves specialized cells called rod cells in the retina, which are highly sensitive to light but do not detect color. When lighting is scarce, these rods become the primary way our eyes perceive the environment, enabling vision in darkness. This response is essential for night vision and helps us see in situations like nighttime or in a dark room. The scotopic response adapts our visual system to maximize sensitivity when light levels are minimal.
