Scooter Libby is a former American lawyer and government official who served as Chief of Staff to Vice President Dick Cheney. He became widely known for his involvement in a political controversy surrounding the leak of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame's identity in 2003. Libby was charged with perjury and obstruction related to the investigation, and in 2007, he was convicted of these crimes. He was later sentenced to prison, though his sentence was commuted by President George W. Bush.
