Scintillator Detectors
Scintillator detectors are devices that detect high-energy particles or radiation by using a special material called a scintillator. When a particle or radiation hits this material, it emits tiny flashes of light (scintillations). These flashes are then captured by a sensitive component, like a photomultiplier tube or a photodiode, which converts the light into an electrical signal. This process allows scientists to identify and measure types and amounts of radiation or particles, making scintillator detectors valuable in fields like medical imaging, nuclear physics, and radiation safety.
