Scientific notation
Scientific notation is a way to express very large or very small numbers more conveniently. It uses a number between 1 and 10, multiplied by a power of 10. For example, 5,000 can be written as 5 × 10^3, and 0.0002 as 2 × 10^-4. This format makes it easier to read, compare, and perform calculations with such numbers. It’s especially useful in science, engineering, and mathematics where dealing with extreme values is common. Essentially, scientific notation simplifies handling numbers that would otherwise be cumbersome to write or interpret.
