Schooners

A schooner is a type of sailing ship characterized by having multiple masts with the front mast typically shorter than the rear one, and usually equipped with fore-and-aft (longitudinal) sails. Historically, schooners were popular from the 18th to early 20th centuries for their speed and agility, often used for trade, fishing, and naval purposes. Their design allows for easier handling by smaller crews and good performance in various wind conditions. Today, schooners are often seen as historic vessels or used for recreational sailing and tourism.
