School Resource Officers (SRO)
School Resource Officers (SROs) are sworn law enforcement officers assigned to work in schools. Their role is to ensure a safe learning environment by preventing and addressing safety issues, building positive relationships with students, and serving as a resource for school staff. SROs handle matters like conflict resolution, drug or weapon incidents, and provide criminal law education. They also collaborate with school personnel to promote safety and discipline, acting as a bridge between the school community and the legal system. Their presence aims to enhance safety while supporting positive student development.
