Schliemann's excavation was an archaeological effort in the late 19th century aimed at discovering the ancient city of Troy, described in Greek mythology. Using innovative digging techniques for the time, he uncovered multiple layers of ruins in modern-day Turkey, identifying sites that could correspond to the legendary city. His work revealed impressive ruins and artifacts, including gold jewelry and weapons, providing valuable insights into Mycenaean civilization and early Greek history.
