Schleswig War

The Schleswig War (1848-1851) was a conflict between Denmark and the German-speaking states of Prussia and Austria over the territories of Schleswig and Holstein. These areas had mixed Danish and German populations, and disputes arose over control and national identity. Denmark wanted to incorporate Schleswig fully, but the German states supported local independence and unified interests. The war ended with a Danish defeat, leading to a temporary compromise. It was part of the larger struggle for German unification and national self-determination in central Europe during the 19th century.
