Scheduled Castes (SC)
Scheduled Castes (SC) are communities in India recognized by the government as historically marginalized and disadvantaged due to long-standing social discrimination. They were historically referred to as "untouchables," but the term is now replaced to promote dignity and equality. The Indian Constitution provides special provisions, such as reservations in education and employment, to help SC communities access better opportunities and improve their social and economic status. Recognizing their unique challenges aims to foster an inclusive society where all citizens can participate equally.
