Scheduled Caste

Scheduled Castes (SCs) are groups of people recognized by the Indian government as historically marginalized and disadvantaged communities, often facing social discrimination and economic hardships due to ancient social hierarchies. To promote equality and development, the government provides special protections, affirmative action policies, and reservations in education, employment, and political representation. The term "Scheduled Castes" comes from their inclusion in a government list (schedule) for targeted benefits. These measures aim to improve their social status, ensure equal opportunities, and promote social integration.
