SCARF Model
The SCARF model is a framework that explains how social threats and rewards influence our behavior and emotions. It highlights five key areas: Status (our social standing), Certainty (predictability of situations), Autonomy (control over our actions), Relatedness (connection with others), and Fairness (perception of justice). When these needs are threatened, we often feel stress or discomfort; when satisfied, we feel safe and motivated. Understanding SCARF helps improve workplace communication and relationships by addressing these social drivers effectively.
