Óscar Arias

Óscar Arias is a Costa Rican politician and economist who served as the President of Costa Rica twice, from 1986 to 1990 and from 2006 to 2010. He is best known for his efforts to promote peace and stability in Central America, notably helping to negotiate the Esquipulas Accords, which aimed to end civil conflicts in the region. In 1987, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in fostering dialogue and reconciliation. Arias is also recognized for his contributions to economic development and democratic governance in Costa Rica.
