Scalp Flap Surgery
Scalp flap surgery is a procedure where a section of the scalp is temporarily moved to access underlying tissues, such as the skull or brain, during treatment for injury, tumor removal, or other conditions. The surgeon carefully lifts a hinged portion of scalp tissue, leaving it attached at one end, to expose areas needing surgery. After the underlying work is done, the flap is repositioned and secured. This technique helps protect the scalp, blood supply, and hair growth, and allows for better access to deeper structures, often resulting in improved healing and outcomes.
