Scales of Measurement
Scales of measurement are ways to categorize or quantify data, helping us understand and interpret information effectively. There are four main types: Nominal (labels or categories, like colors or brands), Ordinal (orders or rankings, like race positions), Interval (numbers with consistent differences but no true zero, like temperature in Celsius), and Ratio (numbers with a true zero point, like height or weight). These scales guide how we analyze data and determine appropriate statistical methods, ensuring our conclusions are meaningful and accurate.
