Scaffolding in learning
Scaffolding in learning refers to the supportive strategies teachers or mentors provide to help learners progress in their understanding or skills. It involves offering guidance, explanations, or resources tailored to the learner's current level, then gradually reducing this support as the learner gains confidence and competence. The goal is to enable independent problem-solving and critical thinking, much like how scaffolding in construction supports a building temporarily during construction until it can stand on its own. This approach fosters deeper learning by bridging the gap between what learners know and what they are trying to accomplish.
