
Sayyed Musa al-Sadr
Sayyed Musa al-Sadr was a respected Lebanese Shia cleric and influential political leader born in Iran in 1928. He promoted education, social justice, and unity among Lebanon’s diverse communities, especially advocating for the rights of Shia Muslims. Al-Sadr founded social institutions and worked to improve the living conditions of marginalized groups. His charismatic leadership increased the political awareness of Shia Muslims in Lebanon during the 1950s and 1960s. Disappearing mysteriously in 1978 during a visit to Libya, his disappearance remains unresolved, fueling ongoing speculation and respect for his legacy as a champion of social reform and dialogue.
