Saving Italy
"Saving Italy" was a military campaign during World War II aimed at liberating Italy from Fascist and Nazi control. Led by the Allied forces, primarily the United States and Britain, it involved a series of strategic battles starting with Sicily and moving northward through difficult mountainous terrain. The campaign sought to weaken Axis power in Europe, open a new front against Germany, and ultimately support Italy’s transition to democracy. It combined rigorous combat with logistical coordination, ultimately helping to end fascist rule and restore stability in Italy.
