Savanarola

Girolamo Savonarola was an Italian Dominican friar and preacher in Florence during the late 15th century. Known for his passionate sermons, he condemned moral corruption, greed, and the excesses of the Renaissance. He led a religious movement that sought to purify society through strict moral reforms and promoted the rejection of worldly pleasures. Savonarola also famously organized the bonfire of the vanities, where items like cosmetics, art, and luxury goods were burned. His influence was strong for a few years, but he eventually fell out of favor, was excommunicated, and executed in 1498.
