Sassanian era music
Sassanian-era music, from the Sassanian Empire (224–651 CE) in Persia, was deeply intertwined with religious, royal, and cultural life. It featured a rich tradition of classical instruments like lutes, drums, and flutes, emphasizing melodic modes called "dastgahs" that shaped the music's structure. Music played a vital role in court ceremonies, poetry recitations, and religious rituals, reflecting the empire’s sophistication and appreciation for arts. While much of its specific compositions are lost, its influence persisted in Persian musical traditions, laying foundations for subsequent Islamic and Persian musical developments.
