Sarah Grimke

Sarah Grimké was an American abolitionist and women's rights advocate in the 19th century. Born into a wealthy South Carolina family, she became a vocal critic of slavery and, along with her sister Angelina, worked tirelessly to promote equality for both enslaved people and women. She traveled and spoke publicly at a time when women often weren’t expected to do so, challenging societal norms and advocating for justice. Her efforts helped lay the groundwork for future civil rights and women’s liberation movements, making her an important figure in American history.
