Sappho (Poetess)
Sappho was an ancient Greek poetess from the island of Lesbos, who lived around 630-570 BCE. She is renowned for her lyric poetry, which often expressed deep emotions and personal themes, particularly love and desire, mainly toward women. While much of her work has been lost, the fragments that remain showcase her skillful use of language and meter. Sappho's influence on later literature and her exploration of female experiences have made her a significant figure in both poetic tradition and discussions of gender in literature. She is sometimes referred to as the "tenth Muse."
