Sankirtan movement
The Sankirtan movement is a spiritual practice rooted in the tradition of publicly chanting and singing spiritual songs, often of devotion to God, to inspire spiritual awakening and community unity. Originating from the Gaudiya Vaishnavism tradition, it emphasizes congregational chanting (kirtan) as a means to purify the heart, develop love for the divine, and foster social harmony. This movement gained global prominence through leaders like A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, spreading the practice to diverse communities worldwide as a joyful, accessible way to connect with spiritual principles.
