Sangkuriang legend

The Sangkuriang legend is a Javanese folktale explaining the creation of Tangkuban Perahu, a volcanic mountain. Sangkuriang, a youth, unknowingly falls in love with his mother, Dayang Sumbi. When she learns his identity, she tries to prevent their union. Sangkuriang, angered, attempts to delay a boat-building task to win her over. In frustration, he kicks the incomplete boat, which then capsizes and becomes Tangkuban Perahu, a mountain with a flat, upturned shape. The story symbolizes themes of love, regret, and natural formation, blending mythology with the natural landscape of Indonesia.
