Sangkum ReasBudh

Sangkum Reas Budh was a political movement in Cambodia founded in 1955 by Prince Norodom Sihanouk. It aimed to promote national unity, cultural identity, and stability after independence from France. Serving as a political organization and a ruling party, Sangkum combined royal authority with socialist ideas, advocating for development and social reforms. It remained in power until the 1970 coup. While it fostered some progress, it also centralized power and limited political opposition, influencing Cambodia’s political landscape during the 1950s and 1960s.
