Sangkha

Sangkha is a foundational concept in Theravāda Buddhism referring to a community of practitioners. It traditionally includes four groups: monks (bhikkhus), nuns (bhikkhunis), practicing novices, and lay followers. The Sangha serves as a supportive community for spiritual growth, ethical conduct, and the preservation of Buddhist teachings. It provides guidance, inspiration, and a framework for monks and laypeople to cultivate mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion. The Sangha plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity of Buddhist practice and teachings, fostering a sense of shared purpose among practitioners.
