Sancai ceramics
Sancai ceramics are traditional Chinese glazed pottery characterized by their vibrant, multi-colored glazes—typically amber, green, and cream—applied to earthenware pieces from the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD). Known for their durability and striking appearance, these ceramics often featured figurines, vases, and ritual objects, with glazes created by mixing various mineral-based pigments. The term "sancai" means "three colors," reflecting their distinctive palette. These works exemplify the sophistication of Tang craftsmanship, blending artistic expression with functional design, and remain highly prized for their historical significance and visual appeal.
