Sancai
Sancai, meaning "three colors" in Chinese, is a traditional glazed ceramic technique originating from the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD). It features pottery decorated with vibrant glazes in three primary hues—commonly amber, green, and cream—creating a lively, colorful appearance. Sancai ware was often used for funerary objects like tomb figures and vessels, symbolizing prosperity and cultural artistry of the period. The technique involves applying mineral-based glazes that fuse to the clay body during high-temperature firing, resulting in durable, glossy surfaces with distinctive, warm-toned coloration.
