
San Rocco (Saint Roch)
San Rocco, or Saint Roch, is a Catholic saint known for his compassion and believed to have miraculous healing powers, especially during times of plague. He lived in the 14th century and dedicated his life to caring for the sick and suffering. According to tradition, he contracted the plague himself but was miraculously healed. He is often depicted with a pilgrim’s staff and a dog, which is said to have helped nurse him back to health. Saints like Roch symbolize charity, resilience, and divine intervention in times of hardship. His feast day is celebrated on August 16.
