San Niccolò (Saint Nicholas)
San Niccolò, or Saint Nicholas, is a 4th-century Christian bishop from Myra in present-day Turkey, known for his kindness and generosity. He became famous for performing miracles and helping the poor, including the legendary story of secretly providing dowries for three impoverished daughters to prevent their forced servitude. His life inspired the modern celebration of Christmas and the figure of Santa Claus. Saint Nicholas is often depicted as a bearded man in bishop's robes and is the patron saint of children, sailors, and merchants, commemorated on December 6th in many cultures around the world.
