San Girolamo

San Girolamo, also known as Saint Jerome, was a Christian scholar and monk from the 4th-5th centuries. He is best known for translating the Bible into Latin, creating the Latin Vulgate version, which became a key text for the Catholic Church. He spent much of his life studying, writing, and living a reclusive, disciplined life dedicated to faith and scholarship. San Girolamo is honored as a saint and is often depicted in art with a book or a lion, symbolizing a legendary story where he tamed a lion by removing a thorn from its paw.
